Little Punkin Party

Georgia hosted her first party today! She had a costume party for all her baby friends so they could celebrate their first Halloween together, and mostly, so we could take lots of pictures of them in their costumes! It was such a FUN chaos with all the babies crawling over each other and playing in their cute little costumes!! Everyone was ADORABLE!! Unfortunately by the time we tried to do a group shot Georgia had reached her limit, so she's squallin in those pictures. :( But she was a bootiful butterfly the rest of the time, and had a great first Halloween! :)

Butterfly Georgia, Ballerina Maggie & Goldfish Rollins playing.

Butterfly Ga watches over her sweet flower friends, Tate & Ellie!

Hannah is a mild little chili pepper!

All these pictures are posted in her album... don't miss them!

And Happy Halloween from the Hipps!

Pumpkin Pickin with Grammie & Grandad

Grammie and Grandad came up from Tampa to spend a long weekend with Georgia, and we all enjoyed them being here. It was a great relaxing weekend, and Georgia got to spend some quality time with them so I could go to the Dr & the dentist, and Larry & I could have a date night. Georgia showed them all her new tricks, and they were appropriately amazed at her advanced crawling, pulling up and gabbering skills! We also took Georgia to her first Pumpkin Patch, and I carved her a "sweet baby girl" jack o'lantern!

Make sure to check out all her new pictures in her Photo Album....

Hey Boo!

Georgia has started her own little game that we like to call "Hey Boo". Because, well, that's what you say to play it! She clasps her hands together and puts them over her head, while you say "Heeeeeyyyyy"... then when she drops them- "BOO!" I guess it's her own version of peek-a-boo. It's really just fun b/c she's so cute doing it! I love how she's learning to interact with us, to predict our response, and play!

Snugglin with Georgia

Our baby may be the sweetest and the cutest, but she is definitely NOT the snuggliest! She needs her own space to move and grove, and only if she's asleep or drugged up b/c of a fever can you catch a snuggle! She likes to sit on her daddy's lap when he gets home from work, but after a minute or two, he becomes her junglegym. Check out her moves on this little video I took the other night:

Waters come to town!

Our good friends Melanie and Steve Waters came thru town this afternoon on their way home to Gulf Shores and stopped for a visit. It was so great to see them again, and have their kids, Eli (3 years old on the 29th) and Alee (22 months old), play with Georgia. Eli and Alee are the sweetest and most beautiful kids ever, and it is always amazing to see how grown up they are getting! Although Alee wanted to be the baby so she could play in the exersaucer! Eli did a very good job of holding Georgia on the couch so we could get pictures of them all. (Check these out in GA's album- http://picasaweb.google.com/GAkate/WatersVisit1021.) We miss them all and are always glad to see them!

My New Club

I've realized that, along with accepting this tiny child into my life, I've also been accepted. I am now a member of the Mom Club! The Club has members all over the world, of all ages, and in all walks of life. You don't even have to actually be a mom to be in the Club, you just have to be close enough to a mom to be able to talk about their child. The Club offers advice (both solicited and unsolicited), support, praise, encouragement. Whatever I may be going thru with Georgia, I can bring it to the Club and get as many answers as I need until I find one that I like, or works for us. And when you are accepted into the Club, you agree to open up your life to anyone who asks- the private parts, the happy parts, the embarrassing parts. The best part is, the Club is always there for you, cheering you on, picking you up, and wiping the spit-up off your back!

I've met members of the Club while grocery shopping, walking, in restaurants, and even walking through a parking lot. There is a Club-standard of dialog for each interaction: "Hi, I'm (insert child's name)'s mom. (You no longer have a name, you are just so-and-so's mom.) She is ___ months old, ___ pounds, ___ inches long- which is ___ % in weight and ___ % in length. She gets her height from her daddy!" Then you list her current accomplishments- crawling on her belly, pulling up to her feet on everything, eating cereal and (list of other foods child is eating), etc. Then the other mom goes thru her monologue, and you know what questions you can start asking each other.

Now, I'm not aware of a Daddy Club, but even if there is one, I suppose I wouldn't be let in to it. But I have to imagine what their standard dialog would be and how different it is from the mom-speak we go thru. I imagine it would be something like: "Hey- I've got one of those. (Refers to child.) Mine is 6 or 7 months old. She's already crawling, pulling up, eating, sleeping thru the night. (Like they're listing horsepower and amenities on a suped-up car- or Jeep!) What's yours do?"

I'm excited and honored to be part of this Club. I know I wouldn't get thru this job very easily without all of you!

Up, Up and Away

Georgia continues to be on the move. She's been moving since she was in my belly, and I think she's really enjoying her newest skills. She continues to do her "army crawl"- on her belly and elbows, but she is going up her knees more and more. Even with the army crawl, she's fast! Just ask Bernie! She can get across the room to him and have his bone before he even knows it! But he's learning pretty well to share his floor space. It's so funny to see this little baby, just scooting around the room! She looks so little down there next to big boy Bernie!
Her newest thing is pulling up. It started during a midday nap about 2 weeks ago when I found her on her knees in the corner of her crib- just smiling at me so big and proud, instead of sleeping! By the end of the day, she was pulling up to her feet, and now there's no stopping her. She's up on all sides of her crib, up on the outside of her jazzerciser, up on the coffee table, even up holding on to my pant leg! Luckily she's also learned to get herself back down, though sometimes that part is a little tricky. It's really funny to watch her, because she's so determined, and then, once she's up, she is SO proud! She stands up there and screeches and babbles, like she's saying "Come look at me!!" She loves standing in her crib b/c she can see over the rail and talk to Bernie. (Check out a video of her standing, below)
It's so fun to watch her accomplish each new thing. It makes me so proud to see her try and try until she succeeds. These are the real lessons about what it means to be a parent! And it's amazing!

Welcome!

Since our website, http://www.hippspace.com/, has been experiencing technical difficulties for the last few months I decided to start this blog. I'll post my random musings, our goings-on, Bernie's latest antics, and, mostly, all about Georgia!

Look for more Georgia pictures in her Picasa album: www.picasaweb.google.com/GAkate/
