Letter of the Week- A

In my attempt to be more intentional with my time with Georgia, I am following behind our friends Molly & Jen, and many others, and am going to try to do a "Letter of the Week". All week we focus on one letter- looking at it in books, learning about things that start with the letter, and doing fun letter activities. Along with Jen's blog, I also found great ideas and inspiration at 1+1+1=1.
We went ahead and started at the beginning...
A is for Apple- we made Apple Crisp dessert and Apple Cinnamon muffins together, and ate apples and apple chips throughout the week.

A is for Angel- we read The Gift of an Angel by Marianne Richmond and made an Angel-A by cutting an A out of a foam sheet and cutting out wings and a little halo out of yellow foam sheet. I ended up stapling the wings on because our glue wasn't sticking.

A is for Ark- we read the story of Noah and the Ark from Georgia's children's Bible in Genesis 6-9. We used our Martha Stewart Ark craft pack to make lots of little animals out of pipe cleaners. I found out this activity wasn't very Georgia-friendly, much too detailed for a 2-yr old, so we made one together then I just made the rest during nap time. Then we could play with them all after nap. She likes to play the part of God- raining, raining, raining on the Ark, then "Stop rain, stop!" she commands! Then all the animals come out to play! :)

A is for Animals- not only the ones on the Ark, but we also went to the zoo and saw all the animals there. We had so much fun with the animals we went back on Saturday with Daddy (love the zoo passes!). And we also brought Animal crackers to eat- of course! A is also for Activity- at the zoo's playground!

It was a great week and she's still singing "A is for Apple- A A A!" Hopefully this good start will keep us going!

It's so fun to see what you and Georgia are doing. I love the Noah's ark! I might just have to do that when we get to the letter A. :)
